Is Konflux made by Twitch, YouTube or Kick?

Section titled “Is Konflux made by Twitch, YouTube or Kick?”

No. Konflux is an independent app, made by Kirehb. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Twitch, YouTube or Kick. What Konflux does with your sign-ins, such as sending and moderating, goes through each platform’s official interface.

The tester version costs nothing. There is no payment, no subscription and no Konflux account anywhere in the app.

Twitch, YouTube and Kick. One streamer’s chat from all three shows as one conversation, with each message marked by the platform it came from.

TikTok has no official interface for reading and writing chat. Konflux is built so that another platform can be added, and TikTok gives it nothing official to add.

It runs on Linux, as an AppImage, and on Windows 11, with an installer. The installer is not signed yet, so Windows warns before running it (Install on Windows). A Mac version is possible but not planned: building one needs a Mac.

Yes, for reading. Open any chat on any of the three platforms and it appears. Signed out, you cannot send or moderate, Twitch badges show as short text instead of pictures, and the Live panel cannot tell whether Twitch channels are live: it says “Twitch unknown”. See Accounts and signing in.

No. Twitch signs you in with a short code that you approve in your browser. YouTube and Kick open their own sign-in page in your browser. Konflux receives a token, which it keeps in your system keyring.

Click + in the tab row, or press Ctrl+T, and type a name or paste a link. Its tooltip says what it takes: Open a chat in a new tab — a name, kick:name, yt:@handle or a link (Ctrl+T). A word on its own is a Twitch name. Then click Open chat. To add a chat beside one that is open, use the split button in that chat’s header. More on First steps.

Where does my message go in a merged chat?

Section titled “Where does my message go in a merged chat?”

To one platform: the first of the chat’s platforms you are signed in to. The platform logos in the message box turn the others on and off; point at one and it says, for example, Twitch — click to start sending here. A reply always goes to the platform of the message you answer. More on Writing.

Kick does not offer the messages sent before you joined. Twitch chats are filled from a recent-messages service when they open, and YouTube replays its own recent messages.

Because Settings › Platforms › Read Twitch chat as your own account is on by default. As its help says: “On, Konflux reads as you; off, anonymously, and nobody can tell it is there.” Konflux never writes in a chat unless you do.

Can I use channel points, predictions and polls?

Section titled “Can I use channel points, predictions and polls?”

Yes, in the native drawer: click the drawer button in a split’s header (The platform’s own chat — points, polls, predictions). It shows the platform’s own chat page, where those work. Sign in there on its own; the drawer’s sign-in is separate from Accounts. YouTube’s opens only while the channel is live. More on The window.

No, video is not part of Konflux. Watch in a player, the play button in a split’s header, opens the stream in streamlink, or in mpv with yt-dlp. Install one of them yourself.

It is not live: a YouTube chat belongs to one broadcast. Konflux watches the channel and joins its chat once the stream starts. See Troubleshooting.

Yes, in a log on your computer: every message in every chat you open, kept forever by default. To keep it for less time, set Settings › Logging › Keep messages for. To keep none, turn off Keep a local message log. The log is not sent anywhere unless you set up the archive sync, which is off. See Your data.

No. Your notes and the nicknames you give people are stored only on your computer, and never sent. An export leaves your notes out unless you tick Notes about people. While streamer mode is on, they are hidden from the screen too.

In ~/.config/konflux/, as ordinary files. Your sign-ins are in the system keyring. The full list is on Your data.

No. Konflux has no telemetry, analytics or crash reporting. The only Konflux servers it contacts are the update check and, when you sign in to Kick, Konflux’s sign-in helper for Kick. See Your data.

A switch for when the Konflux window can be seen on your stream. It hides your notes and nicknames, what deleted and held messages said, suspicious-user flags, and pop-ups and sounds. Turn it on from the status bar, or set Settings › Streamer mode › Streamer mode to On while OBS is running. It is Off by default.

Yes, as an AppImage. It checks a minute after it starts and then once a day, downloads a newer version, and checks it against Konflux’s signature. Nothing is installed until you click Update … ready — restart in the status bar, or Restart now in Settings › About. To stop the checks, turn off Settings › Advanced › Check for updates. See Install and update.

Why does the file still have the old version in its name?

Section titled “Why does the file still have the old version in its name?”

An update keeps the file’s name, so that shortcuts to it keep working. Settings › About shows the version you are running.
